Melt. Relax. Let it go. I sink into my flesh, melting away at the visual explosions of artist and creative director Leif Podhajsky who explores the relevance of nature and the psychedelic experience. I find myself getting lost in each piece and matching the mazes with the sounds of newly discovered Blood Ceremony, whose Sabbath like drones are fused with distinguished singer Alia O'Brien's alluring flute solos and contrasted organs.

Her work comes to life and I imagine myself in each colorful world, flashlights twinkling, shivering in the cold, with whispers and shadows dancing.

I'll be an old Hollywood star in my own light. I'm planning on spending my week vacation going antiquing with my girlfriend. Hello friends, pardon my absence lately, things have been kinda crazy and fun at the same time. Painting, crafting, rock shows, antiquing; busy hands and happy hearts. Much to talk about soon on the success of the Brandywine Festival of the Arts, BlackHand, upcoming art shows and Oct 1st starts the annual celebration of horror films with "Zemo Presents 31." Crafting Your Display

I'm gearing up for the annual Brandywine Arts Festival, only 1 week away, eek. I been planning my table displays in my head for a while, I've been collecting little trays and things, last year I just had one table, this year I plan on utilizing my space two tables creating an L shape. I want to stack books, suitcases and trunks that range in height and of course fresh flowers. On the side I also plan on using my old wooden door again to hang paintings and necklaces. I thought I'd share some new found inspiration and also some photos of my own display too.

Last year I revamped an old sewing traveling case, works perfect to hang necklaces and things; I removed all the old fabric and put in some lace curtains I had sitting around. My butterfly wing necklaces were a big hit especially with little curious hands viewing with magnifying glass. I caressed the necklaces with dried green moss inside an open drawer.

I've been saving money to order this fabulous wooden candle jewelry display from Urban Outfitters but when I returned they were gone, so I found them on Mod Cloth for a little bit more, but I had to have them. I also have my eye on the Astrological Jewelry Stand from Urban Outfitters, perfect for rings and other shorter jewelry items. They also have a similar one with botanical pattern.

I'm in love with this idea! Drape necklaces from vintage spools of thread, color coordinate with pale pinks and robin's egg blues, delightful. This would be perfect for my wooden door, pop in some nails and arrange, easy to break down and rearrange.

Speaking of suitcases, I adore this collection put together with lined cute fabric and the smaller shelf is a wonderful idea for smaller art pieces. I love this color combination, so happy and welcoming to the consumer.

I'm also admiring the earrings cards that read Sale, these look like vintage furniture cards stamped to give it that handmade feel. The layout of these necklaces is great too, especially the ribbon/string, I would like to hang a string in the suitcase to hang earring cards and necklaces for each displaying.

I just adore the handmade flags and the warm colors, it's like eye candy that I just want to eat up.

Perfect for quick reads and handmade; I purchased a set of four chalk board stands that I will use throughout my booth for either sale items or different price ranges to keep people in budget. I also love the vintage sterling trays from The Vintage Parlor, perfect to rest rings and things, mind you an easy project to do yourself too.

Painted Black

I cannot get enough of black liners that make the eyes super bold, especially for the fall season, match with a pale lipstick or a punch of red and you are ready to go. My friend and I were going through page by page of the fall issue of InStyle and next week the bible issue of Vogue, I wanted to share a feature on my fav eyeliner styles that are in and certainly fierce.

~ NEO-ROCKER: With the wing open just a smudge, the iconic cat eye gets an edgy, new vibe.

~ PUNK HARLEQUIN: Flat solid cat eye line that accentuates the shape of the eye and worn by '70s cult band Siouxsie and the Banshees.

I also want to get my hands on Sephora's Brush Wand, a stackable four brush set that come together magnetically to form a wand for creating your fav painted black eyes.

I've been doing a little revamping getting ready for fall in my shop, I've slowly been reshooting my jewelry on new backgrounds with using an antique chest as a resting place for hanging and laying jewelry down. I've gathered finds from my studio like a found bird's nest, a dried alligator head, a glass test tube set I found at a yard sale and an 1856 medical anatomy book from my personal collection. The fun part is finding unique pieces that speak who you are. What do you like to use in your backgrounds? Or when shopping what are you personally drawn to?

From within intergalactic space to the intimate resting in the woodlands, Francisca Pageo collages are what dreams are made of. I feel calmed looking at them, I remember one of my first design classes in school, our assignment for a semester was to make a collage everyday. I would cut porcelain faces from magazines, match them with torn fabrics and dried rose petals. I adored the quick hand-made sessions; I cherished that time of my life.

Overdue Books Discovery

Ever wonder what happens to forgotten books from the library? Well last year I ventured to the Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philly and stumbled upon Overdue Industries, who create journals from recycled books, most include the original stamped library card and the original pages are spotted throughout making each journal one of a kind. At the time I was so overwhelmed with happiness, because I wanted to buy so many of my childhood favorites. I ended buying only one, called Rip Van Winkle & the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I bought it for one reason, an illustration of a man wearing a pumpkin as a head. This drawing is going to be the an inspiration for a new tattoo, I've always wanted something related to Halloween, due to the fact I was born on mischief night and drawn to the dark and dreary. With added touches of skeleton hands, glowing lantern and webbing, this will make the perfect piece.

The discovery of Fregezechen's work is so invoking to me, this image in particular reminds of me the human energy field, the aura is projecting as if it were never ending galaxies of light in the universe. It is almost takes my breath away as to imagine myself being surrounded by such reflections of our true nature.

I love the tone of this collage portrait by Sara Hogren, the inked webbing of hair is like a growing nebula tangled with fear and things made of nightmares. There is a hint of whimsy and connection between the children, as if their childhood is deteriorating. As we age our purity becomes diluted as we become sucked into society like machines.

Paper Cuts

I remember when I was little, it was the first time I had been to Disney World, as one of the souvenirs my brother and I both got Victorian inspired silhouettes hand-cut with precise edges, they hung in tiny frames on the walls of my childhood home for years.

This timeless art form is very much still alive! A recent discovery is artist Olly Moss, who worked many months for her exhibition "Cut Out Show" at Gallery 1988, where the walls exploded with paper-cut silhouettes of pop-culture icons. I'd especially love to collage my walls with many of these, as an nod to my childhood, teen years and love for movies.

Speaking In Tongues Group Art Show Recap

Together as one, many artists grounded the walls of Black Vulture Gallery in Philly for the "Speaking in Tongues" group art show. Curated by Buddy Nestor, the paintings hung in strange melancholy and also each stand on their own. I was truly honored to be a part of the group art show and created a new painting called the Oracle, seen above.

The night started with myself and fellow artist Kristen Margiotta, we traveled up from Delaware knowing the night would be an adventure, it sure was, first I missed the exit and ended up traveling up South street, we finally made it to Fishtown in one piece and were invited by a mob of people filled within the walls of obscurity. The environment was thrilling, live painting to the thrashing metal of Decap Attak, I had many favorites of the night, including Ewelina Ferruso's "The Return" and Zac Shiffer's "Reflections From Far Away."

Are You a Rocker Girl?

I remember my teens like they were yesterday, isolation from the world was the be all, end all, locking myself in my bedroom, and threading my life with the roots of my appreciation for all that rocked. My walls were taped with images of the group Pantera, ripped right out of Metal Edge; my sanctuary. I also worshipped the music of Type O Negative, Life of Agony, Faith No More and Sabbath just to name a few, the emotion that ran through my body was indescribable and still is today. It was that foundation that I grew from, deep down I am still much the same girl as I was 10 years ago. I asked myself the other day as I was driving on the back roads listening to Delirious Nomand by Armored Saint, what would I do without music? I'm not sure the answer, would their be a substitute? This is what life is about, music of the past and new discovery a new band, playing the shit out of their cd and enjoying life. As I'm older now I see my younger kin like me, not afraid to express what they love, it is quite beautiful! The attitude, passion and expression of the underground brings forth the creation of the Rocker Girl earrings, a combination of sweet and sassy that define what it is to be yourself.

Kitten Momma

Gosh, I cannot wait any longer to be a new kitten momma, this weekend I am looking forward to bringing a teeny tiny black kitten. In keeping with Stephen King names and to accompany our older cat Randall Flagg, we shall name him Clovis, after the little helper from Sleepwalkers. Sometime soon I will share an adorable photo, if he does not get eaten first; Flagg needs a friend, I hope he warms up to him.

The Death Coast

I'm loving the amazing featured seller on etsy this week, the work of Jolby warms my heart, hands have wrapped love into each piece by charming characters, a hint of humor and beautiful type.

Most of all I'm drawn to the dark memorial of the vast sea featured in the Death Coast print, the Costa de Morte or the Death Coast is known for its doom of shipwrecks along it's rocky shore while being trapped in by the Atlantic Ocean. It reminds me of my fear of drowning and the theme of the unknown and the abyss; often unto which sailors and explorers felt as they looked into the darkened seas searching for the hope of light coming onto the horizon.

Mystical Rapture

My mind keeps turning, even at night when I lay in bed, my pockets are filled with stress I need to become enraptured with peace very soon. The work of Jessica Lucas calls to me, yet cold to the outside it holds deep meaning and things are unexplained with a blank mist that surrounds each subject. I'm especially drawn to her limited edition print 7 of a girl levitating over a bed, half of me relates to being possessed by the world and its madness. The other half of me; in which my soul longs for is endless tranquility, I want to be like this girl in a state of trance to become numb to the outside world only for moment if possible. Let the ravenous beasts march around me in their suits with guns as I have my divine intervention.

March Medical Madness - I HEART

It is that time of year, the time for the glorious look into anatomy, this March is the 5th annual celebration of March Medical Madness. I would like to start things off with some curious finds that reflect my interest with the human body.

~ Conjoined Teeth Ring: quite a odd and lovely combination between relics of the body and hand crafted metal-smithing, I love the fact that the teeth have all been donated. Maybe one day I will find my baby teeth and get it memorialized into a ring or necklace. This particular ring fascinated me because I often have dreams where my teeth fall out.

~ An anatomically correct Heart in a Jar, I must acquire this for my doll-house to go along with my box of bones, it is quite magically that it floats in the center with such ease; a perfect adornment for a lover.

~ A Chalkboard Skull comes in jet black is ready for doodles and quick ideas that are on the brain. "She" comes life size too!

BlackHand Marks You

Much like the mafia marks you for death, BlackHand marks you for rock 'n roll! This upcoming local band from Newark, DE is made of five rebels with attitudes that deliver a mixture of metal, evil & blues. Formed in early 2010 in a small backyard garage, original songs have birthed from the ground up with vocal delivery and epic doom gloom gut wrenching metal and fury. Get into a groove with originals like Army From the Void and Hell's Henchmen, which celebrate the madness of Armageddon, and their original Dance of the Undead tells the tale of a great escape from vampires. Their shows explode with intense energy and while there at it get kicked in the ass with some Misfits and Danzig covers too. They've shared the stage with some of my new fav east coast bands like Altar of Dagon, Von Kull, The Claw and Thy Will Be Done. Wicked Winter: Dead of Winter Group Art Show

Tonight is the opening of the WICKED WINTER: Dead of Winter Art Show come out tonight with friends for amazing artists and some sweet tunage by The Young Werewolves. I am revealing a new Skeleton Krew painting called, Witch Sabbath, which is inspired by myths of the occult and the Salem witch trials. My Lobotomy: Howard Dully's Journey

My recent obsession has lead me to discover the man, Howard Dully, who as a child at age 12 received the transorbital or "ice pick" lobotomy. My friend Alison and I were more intriguiged than ever after watching the film Session 9, which takes place in an abandoned mental institution which we found out later has been demolished. I had heard of the term before but never really looked into it, I always remember Teenage Lobotomy too, by the Ramones. In 1946, a psychiatrist, Walter Freeman launched this radical new era of treatment of mental illness, Howard Dully was one of his youngest patients, which if you saw him today never knew he had a lobotomy done. In a few weeks I'm going to start Howard Dully's memoir, called My Lobotomy: A Memoir, I'm eager to learn about his childhood and the effects of his treatment. From what I've saw in a short interview segment, sounded like as a child he had a case of Attention Deficit Disorder and a crazy household to go along with it.

Freeman believed that mental illness was related to overactive emotions, and by cutting away the brain he cut away the feelings. It is really hard to fathom this treatment, the thought of removing a live piece of the brain in hopes it will change the person for better, I think it is impossible, I believe by removing a piece of the living you in turn are killing the brain and the machine that controls everything in the body. I think it would only kill what is alive. Many cases had reported some patients had a positive result but only after a few months even weeks they were back to their old selves. Death was even a result in botched surgeries and Freeman's last surgery ended in a brain hemorrhage.

I have mixed feelings about the whole procedure, I guess one, Freeman became obsessed with it and before his death had performed around 2,500 lobotomies on patients, during the time when the mentally ill were shipped to institutions and shunned from society. I found this great documentary on this subject called: The Lobotomist. More to come on my discoveries about Howard Dully, Alison and I are hoping to find more films on this treatment, biographies and even surviving lists of lobotomist patients, if you know of any send them my way.

Hello Everyone, happy new year, it's great to start off 2011, I have a feeling this will be a lucky year for me! Through the holidays I've been nestled up in layers as my skin gets burned by the cold, I sit making jewelry while my hands shrivel up. One of my old professors from Pratt Institute, Dennis McNett is preparing for his show Reaping Waves, Vital Vessels, and the Passing of the Wolfbats opening Dec 16th at NYC's Joshua Liner Gallery. Lately I've been exploring the theme of the soul within. By using masks and covering the eyes we then rely on the inner being to guide us through life. When our hearts bleed I feel as if we build invisible armor protecting ourselves from the vultures of the world.

Beyond the physical world, I question where the barriers are to the spiritual world. I'm very fascinated by mediums and their ability to tune into dimensions unknown. However, recently I've personally been questioning whether I should know those answers or if it is something that is revealed when physical vessel dies. This secret is very sacred to me, I am often afraid to know the truth or if there is anything at all. Just as Peter Pan says "To die would be an awfully big adventure". Man kind will always want to know the unanswered and things of the unknown and curious. It is often those things that inspire us deeply.

Meet Rupert ~ Skeleton Krew Update

MEET RUPERT!

Rupert, born with the werewolf syndrome, he was alone as a child and as a man. He traveled the countryside jumping trains all his life. He had a heart of gold and his long hairy beard was filled with tiny trinkets he'd collect from his travels, each one caressed with a memory of his life.

Rupert, was a recent commission for a client from Smith Mason Legacies in Louisiana, they loved Nigel so much I did a brother of his perhaps. Stayed tuned for prints of Rupert in my shop soon after the Thanksgiving holiday.

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS ART SHOW

Been painting by the daylight more and more, I predict late nights in the near future. I'm gearing up for the "Nightmare Before Christmas" party that has been two years in the making at the Opera DE Studios, featuring dark and deary fun and some amazing local artists including one of my fav's Kristen Margiotta, she just created a custom painting of Danzig for my husband Bruce, pics soon!

My new muses are portrayed with strange masks covering their eyes and ladies painted with blackened hearts, a couple are wearing medieval armor matched with the elegance of Victorian masquerade costumes and splashes of pink rouge. And of course I always am attracted to the supernatural, in the works is a painted boy as a ghost, think more along the lines of Victorian halloween cards. I'm hoping soon to have pics to share with you all. Hope you all can come out and make it!

Zemo Presents "31"

The season of Zemoween is off to a great start, we're gearing up for our big Halloween party where Bruce's band Black Hand is playing there first show in the backyard. The full-on October movie marathon is in full effect as well, we are 14 for 14 movies so far for the month. The other night while stuck the studio I was in search for a good horror movie on tv and nothing I tell you, nothing, so next best thing when in stuck in front of the computer, Netflix. Searching for a while through endless cheesy goodness I came upon Session 9 (2001), a new fav film of mine, the movie follows a working crew who is renovating an old abandoned mental hospital that eventually haunts them, I won't say much more and ruin it for, def worth seeing.

My favorite month is half over, :( Out of all the movies so far this month, the one I can't stop thinking about is The Dark Old House (1932) featuring Boris Karloff and the gorgeous Gloria Stuart. Check out this little vid below.

“It's baaaack. Yes my friends, it is that time of year again where the leaves are changing, the weather is nicer and AMC is showing a poor selection of horror movies. Halloween 5? Really? Really. Where are the Universals? Where are the Hammer films? It's a shame really, which brings me to “31”. Zemo's (aka my husband Bruce) tribute to the greatest month ever with the greatest movie genre ever. EVER! Now for those who don't know or frankly just don't care “31” is where I watch one horror movie a day for the entire month of October. Now as simple as that may sound to some, anybody who knows me and knows how much shit I have going on in my life right now are probably shaking their heads. Between Bike to the Bay, my band, my anniversary, the New York con, and my wife’s birthday; I'm not really sure how I'm going to pull it off. But much like the left hand, I shall rise and overcome. Now like last year my darling wife shall pick the movie we watch on our anniversary and I have a feeling I know what it's going to be. It's a good one! I do old school and new school. Cheesy and genuine. Sometimes even the dreaded remake makes it's way onto my list, but i feel as though I pick some pretty decent selections overall. Like always I am open to suggestions and feedback. For those whom I know personally and would like to join in on watching some of these kick ass horror flicks please feel free. I think I am able to go another year without repeating so I won't be including movies that I've watched the previous years even though I may watch them if I find the time. This year is going to be good so stay tuned,” quoted by Bruce.

My hands have been dancing with many vintage pieces that I collected up over the weekend; my eyes were thrilled to spot many military pieces including medals, bullets/bullet pens and chevrons from the Army and Air Force, more to come soon on those. Silly sidenote: I was in the grocery store yesterday and you know how I love war documentaries and films, I saw this movie off the $3 shelf, called Straight Into Darkness with this cheesy cover with WWII soldiers with skull faces, anyone ever seen it? I think I might netflix it.

I've secretly been creating and stocking up like a squirrel for winter, for a sweet surprise in early October.
