BURIED TREASURE Summer Finds

When the warm weather hits, I have to get my fix of going to fleas and yard sales. A few weekends ago I hit the road with my step dad in search of the odd, creepy and beautiful. 

One of the last yards sales we hit before going to the Newport flea market was at this yellow house. Before finding the house, we saw some street signs but then drove around the blocks a finds times before we saw this little old vintage suitcase that welcomed you up the drive way. A petite old woman and her grown son were selling many of their belongings which looked like they each had a story of their own. There were many old shoes from the 50s, that looked like they cut the rug at one point. There were a few handbags, one in particular caught my eye, it was a 1960s Wearwell bag with a flower power vibe in light oranges, tans and greens. With a small handle and click button, I knew I had to have it for my collection and to hopefully bring back some life into it.

After that, we hit a small flea market in the small town of Newport. I found a few treasures there which I might add had a fabulous price. Below are some of my finds.

Inside the locket was a photograph of an older woman; I love finding vintage photographs, as it gives me some detail as to where an object has traveled through time

Sunday, I traveled up to Blue Santa Beads in Media, PA for a little treat. About once a year I visit this bead store which has alot of variety compared to general craft stores. Its def worth the trek if you are within the 30 to 50 mile radius. 

Pictured are: rough and smooth turquoise beads, blue goldstone, carved feather beads, handcrafted leaf pendants and vintage brass pendants featuring an Art Nouveau floral design
