Halloween Arrivals

We are all gearing up for the bestest holiday ever, HALLOWEENY! I am a October baby, the 30th actually so anything dark, dreary and spooky I'm all about. It's been a while since I've announced pieces on the blog so I thought I'd share some Halloween inspired jewelry.

~ 5) Season creepings with a welcome of the Harvest Moon. A Handmade Leather Black Bat Necklace is simple and soft against the skin, bringing a dark flutter of the spookiest time of year.

~ 6) Vampires have been a fascination during my years as a goth chick and now into my womanhood, I still imagine being kissed by one. Perhaps these Nosferatu Fangs will be a little more endearing, made with mother of pearl and vintage Venetian glass beads.

~ 7) Frozen in time, is the Dracula Reliquary, displaying my favorite dark quote from the film and tiny relics all under a glass dome.

New Paintings In the Process

I'd like to introduce Skeleton Krew: no. 025 Weeping Eileen, she is quite an odd one for she makes me feel sad, my soul meets with hers as I stare into her eyes. I have painted many portraits but she is one of the most captivating, the mood is just so somber. Tragic…perhaps she was caught in the seconds of being so vulnerable and lonely. Her look is natural with a hint of lunacy.

Eileen is a new painting that will be going at the Toothless Cat gallery in philly that is run by Jason Goldberg, Dave Fox and J.L. Schnabel of Blood Milk, I will be heading down there Wed night to display some pieces for the cash/carry wall. 

Lately I've been going mad with finding new portraits for my Sweet Heart / Skeleton Krew Collection, I've been elaborating on the concept of sideshow characters and the my fascination of twins. At a later date I will share more on the details and my process/progress. Below is a new portrait that I found of this heavenly woman in a gesso frame. I haven't decided whether she will be a vampress or ghoul. Isn't she lovely?

Sunday, Bloody Sunday!

Pleasant days and pleasant nights sye, greetings from my pretend world of splendid melancholy and of course who cannot forget tragedy. I am into the finer things in life like jumping on the bed and jelly bellies, but it seems I've turned the corner and my world has become somber and mysterious, filled with vampires and black noir that lores me in with but a kiss. 

It is an enraptured world with vampires and dark stories, truly I've been inspired lately with Edward and my boy Bill from True Blood. So of course these handsome dark beasts must tempt me and they've seemed to snuck their way into my art, so with much adieu I present my newest painting from my Sweet Heart Collection. 

A Killer Queen is on the loose, she sits on her throne after her midnight seduction! This temptress of the night is framed in blood and has a odd look pouring from her blue eyes with a slight calm pout, to match her blood stained pearls. This petite vamp is comes in a metal frame with glass, she is a perfect delight to hang above the fire place perhaps. She is now available at Red Heart 13 and awaiting courtship to whom shall have her.

Let the Right One In Film

Tonight a friend of mine on etsy asked me if I have ever seen this film, Let the Right One In by Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson. So I checked out the trailer, I was so surprised to see such a lovely disturbing and dark atmosphere met with vampires and adolescence.

This film is based off of the novel Let the Right One In, also known as Let Me In by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist. The book focuses on the darker side of humanity dealing with issues such as bullying, drugs, theft, prostitution and murder, along with the paranormal side of life! The Swedish language film version was released in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim, and an English language remake directed by Matt Reeves is to be released in 2010.

I've added this film to my Amazon wish list, along with the 1961 film The Innocents based off of the novel Turn of the Screw by writer Henry James.
